I recently met and interviewed Glenn Gainor for a documentary film that I am making about the side effect that movie work is having on our local and state economy here in California.
When a friend knew that I was looking to talk to people in our industry that still cared about shooting in California, he told me that I had to talk to Glenn Gainor ( Look out for  interview clips with Glenn soon).
Glenn went to film school Cal State Northridge in California.
Starting at the bottom, Glenn worked on set on a “few” movies before he became the head of physical production at Screen Gems ,which is on the Sony lot in Culver City.
A recent quote by Glenn: “We (Screen Gems) are committed to reviving that tradition of producing films in Los Angeles, where we can draw upon a deep pool of talented people who are happy to be working at home”.
“We are building a family with many people collaborating with each other on different projects.”
He also cites the unique support infrastructure in the city, including stages and the backlot at the studio  (Sony lot) equipment rental companies and labs and post-production facilities.
