Its @THR if you want to follow them.

You have got to be freaking kidding me. 1%...that's the big dispute?! Don't they realize another strike would most likely be the final nail in the coffin for the film industry in hollywood as we know it? I know we all deserve to be fairly paid for our work, but in these economic times, we all have to make concessions. For example, IATSE lost their 300 hrs for health benefit qualification (going up to 400) in their last round of negotiations. Didn't anyone learn anything from the writers strike? It drug on for months, and in the end, the writers gained virtually nothing. The studios are not likely to cave, strike or not. Instead they'll just take more productions to right to work states like Louisiana and Texas. This just infuriates me. I have absolutley no intention of giving up on my film career, but I certaintly dont want to have to move either. I really hope both sides can come to their senses soon and come to an agreement.

I have to say this is typical studio hyperbole designed to whip up anti-union sentiment. I read the article, and as with most articles in THR, it's a mouthpiece for the studios. Their transparent "divide and conquer" strategies attempting to pit IATSE against the local 399 and then dragging SAG/AFTRA into the mix, is an attempt to thwart any kind of a successful negotiation for the unions. The best thing we can do is to ignore these tactics and allow the unions to complete negotiations with management.
